Site Introduction

Welcome to The FI Journey Website. This is a place to allow me to express and collect my thoughts, ponderings and feeling about my journey through Financial Independence and life in general.

Hey there! My name is Chris. Firstly thanks for taking the time to view my blog, however you might have stumbled across it even if by accident or forced at gunpoint. It’s great to have you here. This blog has been 4 years or more in the making in some ways. I have often times been tempted to make a website about Financial Independence and life in general but never quite found the time or extra motivation to do so. I was also held back by conflicting thoughts about whether I should or shouldn’t which I will talk about in my first post after this intro.

The FI Journey

So then, What is the FI Journey? Well I wanted to create a little safe place on the internet for me to discuss and share my journey through Financial Independence – From the beginnings of the journey right through to the post FI days, the journey will however not end when I hit some 3.5/4% Safe Withdrawal Rate of a pre-planned required sum of money – that’s only the end of the beginning :D.

I wanted to create a blog where I can share my thoughts and philosophy on all things FI and many other things that no doubt come up along the way. I call this a safe place as it’s not always easy or wise to talk about FI to general colleagues, mates etc. I intend to write a separate post on that topic alone.

Being part of the Community

Most importantly I want be part of the FI community, I have been browsing sites such as Monevator and TheFIREStarter for many years now and am so grateful for their existence, they really have helped change my life. I would love to contribute in some way however small in the discussion and although I could not come close to equaling their content in quality or depth, I want to share my experience and take on things through this journey.

Take part in this

I would love this hear from you so please join in with the discussion in the comments or contact me via email. If you would like to know more about me and my journey thus far, please click here.

I’m glad. I don’t know what I actually did though 🙂 Maybe after reading my blog you now feel the read to start up a blog to show me how it should be done! 🙂

Don’t forget me when you retire and are drowning in blog affiliate income!
